ABOUT KONRAD ADENAUER

Konrad Adenauer (1876-1967) was the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany. In this position, he united Christian social, conservative and liberal traditions. His name is synonymous with

  • the post-war democracy in Germany,
  • the trans-Atlantic community of values,
  • the vision of a unified Europe,
  • and the post-Holocaust relations with the State of Israel.

His intellectual heritage continues to serve both as our aim as well as our obligation today.

ABOUT KONRAD ADENAUER STIFTUNG

The Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) is a German political foundation. It is a global advocate for the promotion of democracy and the rule of law, as well as the enforcement of the human rights.

For that reason, KAS supports the development of a free and independent media, political parties, parliaments, and social groups through training and further education. The success of a society depends on stability, efficiency and openness of its elite. KAS supports responsibly minded future elites, both nationally and internationally. KAS wants to enable talented young people via fellowships to engage in serious studies to have an impact and make a difference in society.

The work of KAS is based on the value-system of the German constitutional law, as well as the principles of freedom and justice, solidarity and peace. Its activities are characterized by the commitment to Christian social values and a liberal ethos. Our vision of society with its structural principles about subsidiarity and solidarity is based on ideas in the interaction between freedom and justice, independent achievement and joint cooperation while also being able to act in the public interest.

ABOUT THE KAS MEDIA PROGRAMME ASIA

The KAS Media Programme Asia, based in Singapore, promotes a free, responsible and ethical press through fellowships, publications and events. Its mission is to strengthen the dialogue between the media and politics, as well as to monitor and highlight current media trends in the Asian and Pacific region. Thereby, the Media Programme aims to connect politics, the media and the people to safeguard a value-based dialogue towards a free, ethical and responsible communication in Asia. Therefore, it supports the training of determined journalists and young communication professionals in their pursuit of professional enrichment and advancement in their commitment to leave an impact with their work.
