WHO DO YOU SUPPORT?
With the fellowship grants we want to support journalists and media experts in their pursuit of professional enrichment and advancement and in their commitment to a free, viable and responsible communication in Asia. Our aim is to support determined communication professionals that want to leave an impact with their work. We support journalists and communication professionals from most of the Asian countries that would like to extend their knowledge and experiences. Find all the criteria here
WHAT DO YOU SUPPORT?
We support you in improving your knowledge and professionalism during postgraduate study programmes in the field of journalism and (political) communication for up to two years. Besides that, we support you in deepen your journalistic experience and widen your perspective during an internship in the field of journalism at a member newspaper of the Asia News network (ANN) or in the field of (political) communication at a company / organisation / party in Germany between 3 and 6 months.
WHAT KIND OF SUPPORT DO I GET?
The Adenauer Fellowship for Media & Communications in Asia supports communication professionals financially in their individual educational projects which can be either a postgraduate study or an internship. The monetary support will cover tuition fees, living costs and (partly) travel costs. Besides the financial support, you’ll become part of a huge network of communication professionals around Asia. Among other things, you can exchange ideas, discuss latest developments within the communication industry, or look for job offers and communication events via our social platform.
WHERE CAN I STUDY OR DO AN INTERNSHIP?
You're free to choose a university for your studies or an organisation you would like to work with. Please be aware that you need to apply additionally for your individual educational projects. We only offer fellowships - so the financial support for your studies or internship.
However, we're working close with and recommend the Asian Center for Journalism (ACFJ) at the Ateneo University in Manila, Philippines, as well as our partner newspapers from the Asia News Network (ANN) and the investigative newsroom Correctiv in Berlin, Germany.

THE TEST SHOWED THAT I QUALIFY FOR THE FELLOWSHIP. HOW DO I GET ACCEPTED?
Please be aware that you still have to hand in your full application. The test gives you just an idea of the required criteria but does not represent the final result of your application.
WHEN CAN I APPLY?
You can apply from January 2017 onwards for the Adenauer Fellowship and you don’t need to be accepted yet from a university or an organisation you want to work with yet. Our deadline for 2017 is February 28. After you’ve got accepted for the fellowship, you can hand in your certificate of enrolment from university or your working contract within the year of 2017. By the time you hand in these documents, you’ll be an Adenauer fellow and you can start your study or work project without any worries.
HOW LONG DOES THE APPLICATION PROCESS TAKE?
The full application process takes about 3,5 months. After the deadline on February 28, your applications will precisely be screened by a committee and we might invite you for an interview by mid/end of March. By the beginning/mid of April we'll send out the final decisions. Thanks for your patience!
